Minimum Volume Requirement For Bulk Mailing

To take advantage of USPS bulk mail postage discounts, you must meet certain requirements. If you do not comply, your mailing may be reclassified to a higher rate or rejected at the post office.

A Minimum of 200 Pieces (50 pounds) is Required for Standard Mail Discounts

All pieces must be uniform in size, weight and contents. They must also be mailed in the same envelopes. This includes all envelopes larger than letter size. All mail pieces must be presented to the Bulk Mail Facility in Zip Code order.

UNH Mail Services can help you with a variety of bulk mail options, including Standard Mail, First Class Presort and Marketing Mail. If you would like assistance, please contact Corey Wilson or Angel Clark at the Mail Center.

Sorting and Bundling: If you want to earn the highest presort rates, your mail must be sorted by ZIP Code(tm) and then bundled into boxes or trays before you send it. The sorting can be done manually or by the presort service provider, who will assemble all of your pieces into specific boxes or trays that are labeled with your originating zip codes.

In addition, your pieces must be sorted in ascending zip code order so the mail will go to the correct zip codes at each location. The presort process will save you time and money, since the USPS charges less for delivery when your mail is sorted by zip code.
